Elaine E. McHugh is Redounds’ Hair Editor. Licensed in both cosmetology and barbering, she spent her career behind the chair and running her own salon in New York, cutting, coloring and styling hair for women and men of every age and hair type. Now retired from the salon floor, she brings that hands-on experience to Redounds: she writes, reviews and edits the hair guides, checking every style for whether it works on real hair, how much upkeep it needs, and what to ask your stylist or barber for. She has a soft spot for mature and changing hair, gray blending, and cuts that are easy to live with. Her rule for every guide: if she wouldn’t have recommended it to a client, it doesn’t get published.
