Born on July 14, 1923, in Harrah, Oklahoma, he was destined for a remarkable career in the entertainment industry.

His parents are Melvin Robertson and Varvel Robertson. Robertson spent his childhood with his sibling Chet Robertson. 

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he was wounded twice and was awarded the Bronze and Silver Star medals.

Commencing his acting journey during active duty in the U.S. Army, Robertson found himself typecast in Western movies and TV shows during the genre’s heyday.

He headlined two TV series, Tales of Wells Fargo and Iron Horse. He also served as one of the 

hosts of the syndicated series Death Valley Days from 1968 to 1970.

He also appeared in multiple films. Some of his notable films are The Boy with Green Hair (1948), Two Flags West (1950), Golden Girl (1951), Top of the World (1955), and The New Hollywood Squares (1987).

In 1985, Robertson was honored with the Golden Boot Award, and he gained induction into both the Hall of Great Western Performers and the Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City. He died on February 27, 2013, in La Jolla, California, at the age of 89.
