Early Life Of Agnez Dereon

Agnes Dereon, born Agnes Buyince in 1909, was a Louisiana native seamstress who passed on her fashion techniques to her daughter, Tina Knowles, and her granddaughter, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter.

Before Beyoncé’s fashion line Ivy Park, there was House of Dereon, a ready-to-wear fashion line introduced by singer and actress Beyoncé and her mother, Tina Knowles, in honor of Agnez.

Agnez Dereon’s Martial Life

In 1926, at the age of 17, Agnes Deréon married Mervin Marsh. By the time of 1930, the couple had established their residence in Galveston, Texas. Their household included a 3-year-old daughter named Selina, born in Louisiana, and a 7-month-old son, Mervin Jr., born in Texas.

It seems that Agnes and Mervin Marsh’s union encountered difficulties, leading to their separation by 1940. Shortly after the end of her first marriage, she tied the knot with Lumis Beyincé, hailing from Abbeville, Louisiana.

Following their marriage, Agnes and Lumis Beyincé decided to make Galveston, Texas, their home. This coastal city became the backdrop for the upbringing of their family, and to this day, some Beyincé relatives continue to reside in Galveston.

Agnez Dereon Family Sacrifices

The Beyonce family, led by Lumis and Agnéz Deréon, made significant sacrifices to ensure their children received a quality education. Despite no specific occupation listed on census records, Agnéz Deréon’s remarkable skills as a seamstress played a pivotal role in this journey.

Tina Knowles, Agnéz’s daughter, revealed that her mother crafted altar boy robes and church garments to support her children’s education in Catholic schools. This dedication laid the foundation for the later endeavors of Tina Knowles and Beyoncé in the world of fashion.

Agnez Dereon Offsprings

Agnéz Deréon had three children: John Marsh Jr., Lumis Beyince Jr., and Tina Lawson. Tina Lawson, formerly known as Tina Knowles, is the most well-known among them.

John Marsh Jr. and Lumis Beyince Jr. are less publicly recognized, and information about their lives is less readily available. The focus of public attention has primarily been on Tina Lawson and her famous daughters.

Tina Knowles, born on January 4, 1954, is an American businesswoman, fashion designer, and philanthropist. She is the mother of singers Beyoncé and Solange Knowles and the wife of Richard Lawson since 2015.

Beyoncé’s influence in the music industry and popular culture has earned her the nickname “Queen Bey” and established her as a prominent cultural figure of the 21st century.

House of Deréon

House of Deréon is a ready-to-wear fashion line introduced by Agnéz’s daughter, Tina Knowles, and granddaughter, Beyoncé. The style and concept of the clothing line are inspired by three generations of women in their family, with the name “Deréon” paying tribute to Agnez.

The clothing mixes hip-hop influences, such as its use of denim, with ultra-feminine flourishes like embroidery and ruffles. The line features casual wear such as sweatpants, jeans, and embroidered hooded sweatshirts for women, juniors, and girls.

In May 2008, the fashion line expanded with “The Deréon Girls Collection.” However, controversy arose when advertisements featuring seven-year-old girls wearing makeup and high heels received criticism for over-sexualization. The junior line Deréon was subsequently discontinued in 2012.

Deréon’s Net Worth

Much information regarding Dereon’s net worth is not available on the internet. However, the net worth of her daughter’s fashion line, House of Deréon, is estimated at $300 million.
